About Brianne
I have had the honor of being your mayor since 2022. In that time, I have proven myself as a strategic thinker and mindful leader. I have worked with my colleagues to find solutions to benefit all of us over special interests. I have set the tone for a united, forward-thinking City Council willing to make proactive decisions for enhancing quality of life in Martinez.
I represent you on the Green Empowerment Zone and the MCE Clean Energy Board.
I serve as the Vice-Chair of the Contra Costa County Mayor’s Conference, which has appointed me to the County Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee as well as the Hazardous Materials Commission.
My Experience
I earned a BS in Botany, a BA in Anthropology, and a minor in Japanese from the University of Washington. I have worked in the non-profit sector and environmental consulting for 16 years. I am a professional wetland scientist, with work experience including permitting and regulatory support, biological compliance monitoring, evaluation of environmental liability, sediment remediation, and wetland delineation, and botanical garden management.
I have served on the Martinez City Council since 2020.
A Community Leader for the Community
What is more Martinez than a parade? I have the joy and privilege to represent Martinez in every parade, including the Holiday Frolic (seen here with my colleagues!). I cherish these moments as a chance to celebrate alongside our residents, honoring the traditions that bring our community together and make Martinez feel like home.
Every decision I make is to benefit the most amount of Martinez residents.
My Family
I have called Martinez my home since 2015. I am a mother and stepmother of three kids. I live with my husband, step-son, son, and father-in-law, so I understand the housing struggles facing families in our community. Our family includes a dog and a cat.
Outdoor Enthusiast
I love to hike, bike, and kayak. I spend my springs on wildflower hikes, my summers on the water, my falls in the mountains, and my winters playing in the rain and the snow. My “northern star” is to improve connectivity for cycling and hiking trails throughout Contra Costa County through Martinez.
